Also available on Blackberry and Android Behavior Tracker Pro is an incredible app for tracking, reporting, and graphing behaviors. If you're struggling trying to figure out how to correct your child's behavior issues, and which response to those behaviors works best, this app could be your dream come true! Though, from my personal evaluations of Behavior Tracker Pro I'd say it's more suited for the professional because, although it's loaded with features, it's quite complex from my point of view. The fact that it's complex is not a bad thing, but it can be a double-edged sword for us parents. Honestly, I wish more apps were as thorough as this one.
Type in the Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence and even take frequency and duration data along with notes and document phase changes. Those are a few of Behavior Tracker Pro's capabilities. Version 2.01 can even shoot video footage if your device supports it! Wow! ABC's are customizable. You can view details for every client. You can add or delete clients at any time. There are too many features to list them all!
This app makes use of the multi-touch interface also. To ensure that you don't accidentally stop recording a session it requires a triple tap in a certain area. You're very unlikely to accidentally triple tap (outside of having a seizure anyhow).
The graphing capability is where the real meat of Behavior Tracker Pro shines through. I can't believe how many options you have for graphing! It really allows you to drill down and find the data you're looking for.
As with many of these apps, parents of a child with autism spearheaded and oversaw the development. But the person who actually coded it was an 18-year-old in high school. Sounds crazy, huh! But they turned out a nice little piece of software here that is already helping many children and parents. Behavior Tracker Pro features password protection and the ability to use it with multiple children, which could be especially useful for professionals or those parents who have multiple children with behavior issues. You can even export data in a few different formats!
Behavior Tracker Pro is a bit complex and has a learning curve. That curve is probably not as steep for professionals, but for parents like me it's a pretty steep curve. And I say that even after reading the manual, watching the video introduction, and trying to figure it out for myself. As the "Help" page within the app says, "Behavior Tracker Pro is an advanced tool used for analyzing and graphing the behavior of individuals. You should have a clear sense of how the application functions and what features it has to offer to effectively use the program." I'd agree with that.
Professionals looking for a powerful behavior tracking tool to use with their iPhone should probably look to Behavior Tracker Pro as their primary option. It's loaded and just waiting for you to pull the trigger.
