CFR 34 is Title 34 of the Code of Federal Regulations - the Education Code. The all important Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is contained in section 300 of CFR 34. Imagine being in an IEP Meeting and having the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A.) in the palm of your hand. Wow! Are you starting to realize the importance of this iPhone app for parents of children with autism?
On a side note, USC 20 is Title 20 of the United States Code. Section 1400 begins the statutes for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. USC 20 is also available as an iPhone app should you feel the need. It's kind of a twin pack, though CFR 34 should be all you need since those are the regulations that implemented the statutes. Regulations implement, but also clarify, statutory provisions.
They can call it CFR 34, but you and I probably think of it more as Pocket Lawyer. With this great iPhone app you can bookmark, search, adjust the font size, and email right from inside the app. It's quick and easy and includes the full texts of the law. Sweeeeeeeeet!
There's another CFR 34 and USC 20 on iTunes for only 99¢ each. I bought the other CFR 34 thinking that I'd save myself some money - only to find that section 300 wasn't included! What? Yes, you heard it right. The section of the Ed Code that deals with Special Education was no where to be found. So don't waste your time with the 99¢ knock-off apps. Spend your money and get what you're looking for because this app may come in handy one day while you're going toe to toe in an IEP Meeting. And then again, you might be humbled to find out that you're wrong about some portion of the law too.
Where does CFR 34 fall flat? Ummmmmmm, I guess it'd be nice if this app audibly read the words and argued with the school district for me! I don't know. I don't really see any negative points with what I'm going to call a nice little autism app. It even works fine on the iPad apparently. So why do I not rate it five stars? Because CFR 34 is federal law and the law is a bit of a pain in the butt by nature. Thanks to the developer for making this available though!
Oh, if you reside in a country other than the United States obviously you need this app about as much as you need hooves for feet. For that matter, if you're outside the US this app isn't even sold in your app store.
